It’s that time of year again – time to kick off the VMUG meetings for the 2019-2020 season.
Meetings will continue to be at Stoke’s Bay. The dates are as follows:
- November 19th
- January 21st
- February 18th
- March 17th
- April 21st
- May 19th
We are going to change the start time of the meetings this year to 4:00PM rather than the later 7:00PM and we hope this works better for everyone’s schedule.
If you are interested in presenting at any of the dates listed above, please let us know and we can schedule you in.
More details about the first meeting on November 19th will be posted as we move closer to the date.
Thank you, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone out at the meetings this year!
P.S if you’ve never attended a VMUG meeting before, here’s a little more information:
What is VMUG?
Vibration & Machinery User Group (VMUG) originally started in the early 90’s. The group was established for people working in the valley to get to know each other, discuss case records, learn information, and pass along their experience and knowledge with rotating machinery and vibration.
What kind of topics are presented at VMUG meetings?
Typically a representative from one of the companies invited gives a short presentation/seminar over some refreshments and snacks. Topics vary each month, but usually we discuss case records, new technology, or a company could come in and pitch new products, etc. all related to rotating machinery and vibration. We try to keep it more educational and case study related, and not too “sales focused”.
We all know there are proprietary things that we cannot talk about, but everyone has the same pumps, fans, compressors, bearings, seals, flow issues etc. – and it’s a chance to learn new things from each other.
How long do meetings last?
Even though we are starting meetings earlier than previous years, the duration of the meetings will remain around 1.5 hours. The loose itinerary is as follows:
4 to 4:30 – members meet & greet over drinks
5 to 6 – presentation & snacks are served
